Job Description

At the CFAC, we are dedicated to improving the lives of women, children and families who have experienced trauma. We provide a safe, trauma-informed environment where all can access the support, resources, and advocacy they need to begin healing. Our mission is to ensure that every child, woman and family has the opportunity to heal, thrive, and succeed.

We are seeking a passionate and people-centered Human Resource Generalist to join our team. In this role, you will support the day-to-day people operations that help CFAC attract, support, and retain great employees. You will be an important resource for staff and leaders, helping coordinate recruiting, onboarding, benefits, payroll, compliance, employee engagement, HR systems, and employee relations. This position is ideal for an organized, relationship-oriented HR professional who enjoys both people and process and can bring consistency, responsiveness, and care to the employee experience.

Responsibilities could include:

Talent Acquisition & Recruiting: Coordinate the recruiting and hiring process for employees and interns. Partner with CFAC leaders and hiring managers to post positions, communicate with candidates, schedule interviews, support selection processes, and help ensure positions move efficiently from opening to hire.

Onboarding & Offboarding: Help create an organized, welcoming, and effective onboarding experience for new employees and interns. Coordinate required documentation, training, background checks, systems access, and other onboarding requirements. Support the offboarding process and ensure required documentation and organizational steps are completed.

Benefits Administration: Support the annual benefits enrollment process and assist employees with questions related to benefits and elections. Help maintain accurate benefits information and coordinate with benefit providers as needed.

HR Compliance & Records: Maintain accurate and confidential personnel records for employees, volunteers, and interns. Help ensure required employment documentation, background checks, training, insured-driver requirements, and other compliance requirements are completed and maintained.

HR Systems & Processes: Serve as a day-to-day resource for the systems supporting CFAC's human resource functions. Assist with HRIS administration, data entry, reporting, troubleshooting, and maintaining accurate employee information. Help regularly review HR processes and identify opportunities to make them more efficient, consistent, and user-friendly.

Payroll: Process payroll in partnership with the Director of People Operations and Director of Finance & Administration. Help ensure timely and accurate employee compensation, deductions, and benefit elections. Research and troubleshoot payroll discrepancies and assist with resolving errors.

Staff Engagement & Experience: Support organizational culture and employee engagement initiatives. Coordinate employee milestones, recognition efforts, and other activities that help employees feel connected and valued. Assist with employee surveys, compiling results, and communicating findings to leadership.

Employee Relations: Serve as a trusted and approachable resource for employees with workplace questions or concerns. Receive employee concerns and help ensure they are appropriately documented, communicated, and addressed. Support the Director of People Operations with employee relations matters and help facilitate healthy communication between staff and the organization.

Administrative & Team Support: Provide day-to-day HR support to employees and leaders while maintaining confidentiality, professionalism, and a high level of customer service. Work closely with the Director of People Operations and other organizational leaders to ensure HR needs are addressed consistently and effectively.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business, Organizational Leadership, or a related field preferred. Equivalent experience may be considered.
  • 2+ years of human resources experience preferred.
  • Experience with HRIS systems, payroll, recruiting, onboarding, benefits, or employee records preferred.
  • Working knowledge of human resource practices and employment requirements.
  • Strong organizational and attention-to-detail skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Strong communication, relationship-building, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise good judgment when handling sensitive employee information.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with employees and leaders at all levels of an organization.
  • A genuine interest in helping people and creating a positive employee experience.
  • Experience working in a nonprofit, healthcare, social services, child advocacy, or other mission-driven environment is a plus.
  • SHRM-CP, PHR, or other HR certification is a plus.

Why Join Us?!

  • Opportunities for professional growth and development through training, mentorship, and continuing education.
  • Competitive salary and comprehensive benefits package, including health insurance, retirement plans, and paid time off.
  • A supportive work environment that values teamwork, innovation, compassion, and trauma-informed care.
  • The opportunity to help create a workplace where employees feel supported, connected, and equipped to do meaningful work.
